CAN’s therapy dog Albus, or @albusthedoodledore2122 as he’s known on Instagram, turned two last month and the community helped him celebrate.
Albus, a white Goldendoodle with giant teddy bear vibes, was donated to CAN in 2019 for the purpose of providing therapeutic services to the CAN staff and partner agencies housed at the Children’s Advocacy Center. Albus quickly found a home with CAN’s Medical Director Dr. Michael Baxter and his family who were instrumental in helping Albus earn his official therapy dog credentials.
Albus spends part of his days at the Children’s Advocacy Center making his rounds to check on the staff. When needed, or when he senses a coworker is in a stressful state, Albus offers companionship, comfort and a soft coat for petting, which science shows can help reduce stress.
Needless to say, Albus has quickly become an indispensable coworker and a face everyone loves to see at the office.
In honor of his second birthday, Albus raised over $250 toward the purchase of comfort items for children serviced through the Children’s Advocacy Center.
